New York, New York Day 5

After a few days we found a really nice breakfast place. We also had already found out that a bagel with an orange juice were the most perfect preparation for a busy day. The bagels (toasted with creame cheese) were lovely. I still miss them..

On tuesday morning we went to the Guggenheim museum. I loved the building and the collection of the museum. I also really liked the fact that the audio was for free. Normally I wouldn't have choosed to take one, but now it was for free it was an eye opener. The woman (on the audio) told us a lot of things we wouldn't have known or seen without it. So the next time I'll go to a museum I'll probably take one!

Inside the Guggenheim museum..

Our lunch, which was great haha!

After the museum we spend the rest of the day shopping. I bought.. a lot.. Haha.. I bought a t-shirt and a scarf at a GAP store on fifth avenue, UGG shoes (I wanted them for years so this was the perfect opportunity. In Holland they are way more expensive), a Michael Kors watch (wich I also wanted for a long time) and more..

Photo: Doutzen Kroes (Dutch supermodel; our pride ;-)) in the showcase of a Victoria Secret store. Before our trip to NY I was thrilled to go to a Victoria Secret store, but after we finally found one, it was not that exciting after all..

Forever 21 store. In comparison with the Victoria Secret store, this store did match up with all the things I heard. Loved it. J. did too ;-). We spend a lot of our time and money here.

Life is hard with twitter

I feel like this commercial is about me haha. For a few weeks now I'm a die hard Twitter freak and I think 140 characters is just too little.

This might just be his masterpiece..

Last night I went with my friends F. and J. to the cinama to see the movie Inglourious Basterds and ohw my gosh, it was brilliant! I really really loved it. My friend F is really into this kind of movies and she thought it was even better than Pulp Fiction, so that means a lot! I loved Brad Pitt with his accent (so funny, specially when he tries to talk Italian!). I also really liked to perspective where this movie is made in. Normally every movie about the second world war is about what really happened and this time it's not. It's pay back time for the jews! So great. And I also really liked the reactions from the other people who were watching the movie. At the end of the movie people even apploused haha!

Btw, I'm sorry for the Dutch subtitles in the trailer!

Oh the temptation..

Oh, The Temptation from Steve V on Vimeo.

Last night I was a bit tired so I spoiled myself with some relaxing time. First I wanted to start with the making of my NY photograph album (still, I know), but I found out that I forgot to print some photo's of the beginning of the trip (AARGH!), so I had no choice then to put that plan away and to surf around the internet. To be specifik, blogs.. I found some great new ones and on one of them I found this tiny movie.

I love it. It's a psychology experiment about willpower. The children get a marshmallow and two options. One, they can eat it straight away. Second, they can wait till the adult is back into the room and get an extra one. Ohhh... the temptation...

New York, New York Day 4

On monday we stood up very early so we wouldn't had to wait in line to go to the Statue of Liberty. At 8:30 we were almost the first at the ticket boot. What we didn't knew, but what a nice surprise was, was that the first 1000 people (I don't remember the exact number) would have access to the monument. We didn't had access to the crown. All those tickets were unfortunately sold out.

The arrival hall for the immigrants. Impressive place.

A picture made of some immigrant children.

The subway station of Wall Street.

Wall Street..

Wall Street..

On sunday we saw that there would be a free ciname night on monday at Bryant Park. We thought that that would be a nice thing to do, so we did. And it was great. This was one of my highlights of the trip. We came to the park at about 6 and had to wait till 9, but it was worth it. Not because of the movie (How green was my valley), that was actually quite boring and difficult to follow, but because of the atmosphere in the park. Everyone was chilling and chatting and having fun and it was realluy nice to sit in between and just observe..

Edie Britt is not longer with us

I did know someday this episode would come, but I must say that I was really sad about it, watching it. Yesterday evening the episode in which Edie Britt dies in the serie Desperate Housewives was broadcasted in The Netherlands. I really liked her character. She was a fresh breath of air. A funny girl. But heej, it's only tv right? ;-)

That's something to be proud of

Whou, great accomplishment of Kim Clijsters at the US Open. I'm not a really big fan of tennis, but what Kim did was something really special and great. My compliments!

New York, New York Day 3

A great memorial taxi..

Me on Times Square. This is where we ate our breakfast. Great place to wake up..

Me and Micheal..

Bryant Park.

The public library. This was a big test for us. Because everytime we went to it, it was closed. Aargh! Haha, but eventually we came in and it was worth it. Very beautiful building.

Grand Central Station.

Empire State Building.

Me on the Brooklyn Bridge.

We wanted to eat in Little Italy, but sometimes our subway drove further than we wanted (stupid girls) and so we ended up at Union Square. There we ate a slice of pizza and just watched all kind of crazy people around us.
