Me, S. and J. last year at Queensday in Amsterdam.
Today it's Queensday! J. and I are first going to a flea market in our own village and then we are going to the Vondelpark in Amsterdam. Queensday is fun! It's a national holiday where we celebrate the birthday of our queen (altough it's actually not really her birthday today). A lot of people wear orange, everywhere there's music and everyone is happy :-)!vrijdag 30 april 2010

Jealousy
This morning my parents got on the plane to my beloved NY. I'm sooo jealous! Damn! I would kill to taste a nice Magnolia cupcake again! Walk the streets, sit on the cute benches and just smell everything. But for poor me it's not going to happen..
Ofcourse I know I may not complain! And I trouly hope my parents have just such a blast as J. and I did!
But now it's almost a year ago that I've been there, the feeling that I need to go back is getting bigger and bigger. And reading all those lovely blogs of people who actually LIVE there are not helping me ;-)!
But I can ofcourse profit of this situation, gnagna ;-). I gave my parents a 'little' list of things I don't mind if they bring that home for me!

Father and daughter
Sorry for the few updates lately. I'm a busy bee. Like you know I'm now doing a fulltime internship. It's not completely what I hoped for in the beginning. It's not completely awful, but I also don't go with a happy feeling to work every day. I don't really get along with the people who already work there and my tasks are also different than I thought. It's a pity, but I can't do anything about that now. I still have 12 weeks to go.
Luckly a lot of nice days are on the way. This friday it's Queens Day. That's the day everyone in The Netherlands becomes nuts. It's great! And the benefit is that we don't have to go to work, Jeeh! After that a concert of Mika, Pinkpop festival, a concert of Muse and a day of Rock Werchter will be on the way, so I'll survive!
For now a beautiful movie I saw a couple months ago wich made a real impression on me :-). It's a Dutch animation that actually won an Oscar. Dutch pride!

And if the people stare then the people stare
I love bandshirts. They are the perfect souvenir of a great evening (when bought after a concert).
A few weeks ago a store in my city closed and therefor they sold their last stuff with a great discount. I found a tee of Wolfmother. The tee is so bad (think black, design less tee with picture of fairylike horse) that I actually think it's really funny. I didn't knew if I actually liked Wolfmother, but I knew they are going to be at the Pinkpop festival and I'll be there to. The t-shirt itself only costed me 3 euros, so for that kind of money you can never have a bad buy. Last weekend I thought it would be a good idea to begin with some 'homework' for the festivalseason and started listening to Wolfmother and to my surprise it's a real good band! So the t-shirt is defenitely going to be a piece of my Pinkpop wardrobe ;-)..
The tee above is ofcourse beyond great to be true. Unfortunately it costs 60 bucks, wich I think is a bit too much for a t-shirt.

Birdy birdy in the sky
This morning when I watched out of the kitchenwindow this is what I saw (first photo). Since yesterday the airport in Holland is closed, because of an active volcano in Iceland. Really crazy. Because of the volcano there's a huge cloud in the sky that's passing North-West Europe. I made the second picture at the train station this morning. The photo's are made with my phone, so that's why the quality isn't that great..

You can't stop the beat
Tonight I'm going with my friends A., F. and J. to the musical Hairspray! We bought the tickets ages ago, so now the evening is finally here I am really excited! It's also nice to do fun things in the evening or in the weekend, now I'm working fulltime at my internship!

Pretty paintings
Today I went trough some old links I once saved and I came across the blog of Danny Roberts. I actually saved a link to a t-shirt with one of his artworks (which I still LOVE!), but this time I scrolled through his blog and I found out that I like a whole lot more of him. I actually like it that much that I'm considering to buy one. I really like the third and fourth painting. I think they are just beautiful!

My favorite notes
An absolute must have! I love to make all kind of lists and this is THE notebook for people like me ;-). This is the girly version, but there are also versions for boys, women and men. In the books there are lists about things like what your favorite food is, what you want to become when your old ;-), where you would like to travel to and good advices you once got. Love it!

M'ama non m'ama
I think Tilda Swinton is an amazing woman. I first saw her in the movie The beach (great movie btw. Also a real classic. Love Leonardo! Love Thailand :-)) and there she already made a big impression on me. After that I saw her in several movies and ofcourse she was the muse of Victor and Rolf.
Now she is doing an advertisement campaign for a Italian jewelry brand (Pomellato) and I think the intro on their website is really pretty.
She's kinda like a chameleon. Every time she looks completely different from the time before. But one thing is for sure, she always looks great.
It's funny to notice that on the website where I found the news about her and Pomellato all the reactions were about the fact that she looks so thin in the picture and the commercial. I didn't noticed that at all. My opinion doesn't change. I still think she looks great. Yes she looks thin, but she's always been like that and it fits her image. She's edgy. I don't think she's a role model for young girls and I don't think she has a eating disorder. She's a chameleon.

Such a heavenly way to die
Last weekend I finally, finally, finally saw 500 days of summer! Loved it! So nice made and original! Loved the actors, the clothing and especially the music!
After I saw the movie I asked my dad about if he knew The Smiths. Well yes he did. Apparently he listened to it a lot when he was like my age. He still had some cd's and now I'm also a fan. The lyrics are so great!
When I was watching the movie, I noticed this song and I did not knew from who it was, so I took my baby junior and found out it was The Temper Trap. I LOVE this song. It has everything in it. And just as I am writing this post I remembered that I will see them twice this year! YEEH!

Turin - Milan, day 2 - 3 (final)
A tiny, beautiful church. We were the only persons in the church (except for one old men who cleaned the floor) and that was really special. It's nice to sit quitely in a church and to be all alone with your thoughts.
View from the church over Turin.
The national film museum housed in a very high, but beautiful building (the Mole Antonelliana). My mom and I did'n went into the museum, because we didn't had time and we also thought we would'n know any of the Italian films, but it looked great! We did go in the elevator to the top of the building to have a very nice view. A part of the view. The elevator was made from glass btw. My mom loved it, but I thought it was scary as hell! I love 'scary' rides in ausement parks, but I hate depths. If I stand on a high building, it's no problem, but you should not put me in a ferris wheel or a elevator from glass ;-). In the evening I went to my dad (he was in a bar with my brother and some friends) and together we went to the match Juventus-Ajax. Ajax lost the game unfortunately, but it was still a great night :-). Some of the supporters of Ajax brought a fire torch with them. The next day we went back to Milan. Because we had some time left before we had to go to the airport, we went for a quick hour to the center of Milan to eat a last ice cream. When we left the subway, we walked over this stairs. I wrote about such a stairs a couple months ago, so I loved to see it in real and to notice that it really worked! The last ice cream. Maybe the best part of Italy ;-).. All kinds of different flavours. A last shot before we went into the subway again..vrijdag 2 april 2010

Awesome Music Movies
My brother tweeted this link and after reading through the article I noticed some movies I haven't thought about for a while, but which I really like :-). Ferris Bueller's Day Off is off course a real classic.
When I was in New York last year, J. and I did the Sex and the City tour and the guid told us that the serie changed in the beginning, because Sarah Jessica Parker thought only one person could talk directly into the camera. Guess who she ment ;-)?
